A brilliant student and successful pharmacist, Dr. Thomas Evans, PHG 1894, earned his degree early, moved to Newark, Ohio, at age 20 and subsequently established and operated the two Evans drugstores in downtown Newark. At the time of his death in 1967, he had contributed $350,000 to Ohio Northern University, including $100,000 for construction of the Robertson-Evans Pharmacy Building.
